Anyone know of any train shows coming up in the Twin Cities metro area that are not listed in the upcoming events at the bottom of this page? Just found out half hour ago the Twin Cities Model Railroad Museum is having a show today at the state fairgrounds. tcmrm.org or tcmrm.com? Why didn't they list the sale on this site? Does it cost a club money to list and upcoming event on this site? If I'm not broke I usually go to the sales at Century College. There used to be a sale at a school at a Woodbury school but didn't see it listed this last winter. What other sales are coming up?

Shows are often not listed, either in the magazine or on the CTT site. For example, the May CTT lists the local TCA show on May 15 at San Antonio; but it's not in the on-line list. I rely on the schedule of a local club (http://www.trainweb.org/ttat/ttatclubschedule.html) to find out what's next around here. They seem to catch everything, whether or not they are participating. Perhaps you can find something like that in your area.

Unfortunately, even though Kalmbach provides free listing, many shows neglect to take advantage of it. Outfits like the local club here in Austin, however, have an incentive to discover every show within striking distance, to decide whether to participate. Their listing is for their own members' benefit; but I am happy to eavesdrop on their operation to make sure I don't miss any show that I would want to go to.
Boyd, here in the Twin cities we have about 6 - 10 large shows per year.
2 Twin City Model Railroad shows (biggest) 1 Spring 1 Fall. TCMRM.org, next show in Sept. at state fairgrounds education building 9 AM. You can sign up for e-mail notification at their site. They start and finish the show season here. Nothing in the summer. The Newport Club www.newportclub.us/ runs the Woodbury High School show 10AM. Usually 1 in fall after state fair show, and 1 in Jan - Feb and 1 in April. Has dates on site near show dates. Show at Century college 9AM, usually 2 or 3. Same type of schedule as Woodbury. Tougher to find dates. Can get info on handout tables at State fair and Woodbury show or vendors will know. Can sign up for mailing list at show (sometimes Choo Choo Bobs in St. Paul has info too). 2 small TCA shows at John P. Murzyn Hall in Columbia Heights, next open meet/sale Nov. 17 info under TCA lakes and Pines Div.
In the immediate area, shows in St. Cloud and La Crosse. I don't go to those because of time and mileage.
Got 1 new auto Lionel log dump and 1 new coal dump for $15 ea. at state fair show last Sat.

I have been to many of the Century College shows,, the State Fair twice, Woodbury school twice. About 2 years ago was at State Fair show in spring on a warm day. Inside it was really warm, no ventillation and I was tired. As soon as I got outside I got some fresh air and felt better. At that show I got a newer can motored Lionel 4-4-2 with tender for $35. There is more fun in the air at a show than many other things I do in a year.
