Thanks to all for your replies.

Sounds like I could again use my Photobucket account.

Yes, I did.  But I don't go there every day.  Anyone can get hacked.  If they got hacked I doubt that it went on for two months because I never encountered it.

They were redesigning the website during that time, it's possible that something they tried tripped some Trojan detectors.  But you would have to ask someone who actually had a problem themselves.  Take with a grain of salt anything that someone just heard about.

Phoebe Vet

I have been using Photobucket for years.  I have never contracted a virus from them and my anti-virus software has never blocked anything from them or alerted me of any threat.

Phoebe Vet,

That is good to hear.  Question: Did you use Photobucket at all during the January-February time frame when the web site allegedly had problems?

Back in January, when I first heard that Photobucket was infected with viruses and that users were finding Trojan horses on their computers, I stopped uploading or downloading or, for that matter, even accessing the site.

Recently, when I wanted to post some photos and diagrams on this forum, I looked to my wife who is more computer literate than me.  After some research, we decided to use Photobucket once again.  I have had no problems whatsoever.

Interestingly, as far as I can tell, Photobucket has never acknowledged this incident.

I've never had any problems with it and been using it for about 6 years now.

How do we know if any of them are safe. Anything that has public access like this or Facebook etc. could be attached and cause problems. You have to have a good anti virus program on you computer if you want to use any of these sites.

A while ago there were some posts about a virus in Photobucket, and I haven't used my account since.

Does anyone know if it's still contaminated?

Or should I just create a Picassa account?
