Smoke element
Posted by Peaway on Thursday, May 6, 2010 7:14 PM

I ran a steam engine with TMCC. If I want to run with out smoke does it matter if I turn the smoke unit off with the remote control or is it better to turn it off with the switch. My question, is there still a small amount of current going to the element if I just use the remote  to turn it off and I need to make sure there is some smoke oil in the unit even when off? Hope this question makes sense, I am very new in the model train community.

I would recommend turning it off at the switch.  If you were to do a reset and only have it turned off on the remote it will come back on.  Turning off at the switch is the best, also do not put any fluid in it when you plan on leaving it off.
