RMT website makes remote control system announcement

Hey guys, I personally think RMT has some credibility issues due to the announcements of new products that sound good, and then the extensive delays for those products. Many of which are now years behind their projected arrivals. And some have (in my opinion) excessive list prices that are a far cry from their initially announced list prices.

That aside, on the RMT website there is a announcement for the marketing of a remote control system that was developed by Aristocraft.

The system in on pages 21-27 of the Aristocraft catalog, which for me opened very easily compared to other 3-rail on-line catalogs.

I'm certain the move between RMT and Aristocraft will assist with the production of long over due products (cash flow and distribution... hopefully consumer discount pricing too). I still have some doubts though and I wish RMT would actually deliever on the many prior announced products before announcing new ones. And I wish their website had a section to list what is ACTUALLY available NOW, with more accurate shipping dates for the rest.

All that aside, this command system announcement is interesting. I'm not a command control guy but this seems to indicate RMT wants to have a bigger place in the 3-rail market. Time will tell.

Maybe some people will crossover from G to O scale with a system that could control both?

MTH has been including there "O Gauge" MTH/DCS PS2 system in there "G Gauge" production as standard for 7 years.  Now a quality leader in "G Gauge", Aristo-Craft, is extending there "Revolution" system, now in its 2nd year of production, into "O Gauge".  It is designed to be "Plug & Play" on locomotives with the scale model railroading's DCC plug socket.  Will RMT build-in the socket or is it a wire in?

there not saying weather it is compatible with mth system or Lionel or none worst which now means we will have to have 3 systems to run the different trains just what this hobby really doesn't need. Great they have a system but it would be even greater if the three now could get together and make a system friendly for all systems. I personally feel it would benefit all as then most buyers wouldn't be saying well I'm not buying that as my system won't work it or I won't be able to run it to its full functions because these companies can't make items user friendly without having to buy there system.

I decided to take a different route from the big 2 command systems and not do either one. I have Easy DCC from my N scale layout and it is being adapted to my O scale layout or maybe I should say my O scale engines are being adapted to DCC. It has all I need and I don't need to buy a new system.

 The Aristocraft system seems useful in that it uses direct to locomotive RF transmission, and seems reasonably priced.  The devil is often in the details, but I don't see a problem in having another system. Some folks will buy only RMT stuff and this gives them a command option that is ready to run.  My prediction is it will not take the hobby by storm, but I don't see that's a problem.  I doubt I'll be buying any RMT products now that they're no longer real bargains, and I doubt I'll be using a command system other than Legacy/TMCC, but other people may be happy with RMT products and their Aristocraft remote command system.
