lionel 6-19819 rubber band relacement HELP

Hi I have this lionel poultry car brand new I took out of box the guy was laying inside the car, I went to lionel web site for parts digram and it looks like a rubber band hold the guy in there but I have no clue where it goes or how it goes if I can only see a picture of one I would be on good shape If any one has any info it would be greatly appreciated Thanks Ed

The rubber band connects to the top and bottom of the vertical bracket with a twist before and after the bracket that the floor sweeper is connected to so he will swing back and forth. I have had to replace mine twice. I was talking to a friend that mentioned there have been several versions of making the sweeper work and there is one that uses two springs versus the rubber band. When I find out more, I will post it.

Thank You very Much for the info, I think the spring idiea is a good one and will last a lot longer the riubber band aint that bad if you know how to put it on there I wonder if it hooks on the bottom tab of the man bracket or the top then twist to the spring type bracket on the top Thanks again Ed

Have you tried getting some info from Lionel's tech support, e-mail is slower but it beats sitting on hold on the phone for what seems like forever sometimes. If you should e-mail them include the parts breakdown from their site.
