Anybody know where I can find anyhing jones and laughlin steel? I'm newer in to the hobby and my wife's grandfather spent most of his life there after WWII. I'm looking for somthing to get her.
coach Toki,
Not sure but have you tried either MTH Trains or Weaver Trains. Sometimes Weaver will do a custom run on a set of freight cars.

I know that MTH did some Alliquippa and Southern RR equipment, which was the local railroad that operated for JL steel. I live around there, so I would know.
I have an old Lobaugh Jones and Laughlin brass tank car kit from the 40's. It is currently about 2/3 assembled. It looks like the one in this link although that one is in HO.

If you can't find anything you could always find someone to do a repaint of existing equipment.
Didn't Lionel do a Service Station Set for J&L some years back ?
Not a SSS but in the 2004 catalog:

There are a number of train stores in the Pittsburgh area that may have one of these still.Try:American Hobbie - Aliquippa, PAAlam's Hardware - Aliquippa, PAThe Underground Railroad Shoppe - New Castle, PAIron Horse Hobbie - Pittsburgh, PAAB Charles & Son - Dormont, PACT McCormick Hardware - Zelinople, PA
Wow, I've been to four of those places. You're also gonna want to try Hobby Express, which is in Cranberry Township.
And by the way I found these: http://www.mthtrains.com/search/apachesolr_search/?filters=type%3Aitem+ss_cck_field_road_name%3A%22Aliquippa+%26+Southern%22
Did Aliquippa and southern go to just the mill in Aliquippa or did it go to the SouthSide one in Pittsburgh?
3rd Rail imported a very nice model of the J&L tank car a couple of years ago - it is brass construction and was made for either 2 or 3 rail running.
I beleive it went to both, according to my grandpa (he used to work at J&L and ARMCo). He also said that they used gondolas to transport the pipes they made. Yet Ive never seen a model of an A&S gondola.

I currently work at an old J&L plant in Midland Pa and we have an old A&S Railroad engine or two SW"s I believe. Atlas made them as a model about two years ago and I purchased a #1200 which is one of the two in our mill. MTH also made them but in different numbers also there is a steamer available at Imperial Train co in Imperial Pa. I was just at the CT McCormick in Zelienople and they have the Mth SW engine. Also at Imperial train co they did have a slag car and maybe a torpedo car which hauled hot metal.
Coach Toki,
I was out shopping today and found 2 more jones and laughlin railroad engines one at Patricks trains in Wheeling West Virginia and one at TK hobby in bridgeport ohio both are one the internet and I didnt write down the prices.
