What is going on with Gargraves?
Posted by Bob.M on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 3:13 PM

I ordered some switches and track on March third (Not directly from Gargraves) Still no word as to when they will be delivered. I was told that they shut down production for the entire month of February, so they are catching up to the backlog. Is this normal for them? Does anyone know what is going on there?

How did you order your track from Gargraves?  If it was from a local hobby shop then you are at their mercy so to speak.  I dealt with a local hobby shop when ordering Gargraves in the past and he told me he had to wait for more to be ordered by other people or pay extra handling from Gargraves.

If you need Gargraves track try ordering from Ready To Roll in north Miami FL. They have Gargraves in stock!  www.readytorolltrains.com  305-688-8868

I will give them a try next time. I was told that Gargraves maintains no stock, making everything from scratch for each order. Or maybe I will try am hobbies. I like the fact that they show you the number of each item that they have in stock.

FWIW, I am one of those seasonal hobbyists, my layout is now taken down, put away for the summer. I made plans in mid February for some revisions/improvements, thinking I would have the time to implement them. It did not quite work out this way.

They seem to be really behind.  I just got an UL / UC operating track section I ordered over a month ago.  I ordered it 2-24-2010 and it came in 4-9-2010.  The hobby shop I ordered it through even followed up with Gargraves twice!

I bought from AM Hobbies last year they direct shipped my order from gargraves.  A box of flex track.  It took a few weeks, because they were between runs at GG, but AM Hobbies as good to deal with.

This all sounds good for Gargraves. Maybe they are hiring.

It'd  be a bit of a commute from Minnesota, eh?

Or better yet just call Gargraves. They sell direct.

While Gargraves sells direct at times, you will do better price wise with a large hobby shop that has it in stock.  Also try Ross Custom Switches, www.rossswitches.com  as they sell the replacement switch machines(# 1025 & 1000) made by DZ Industries.

Last time I was at Ready To Roll in Miami FL they had Gargraves switches in stock, two of each switch; a right and left. Also they have Ross Custom switches in stock.
