HOW TO REPLACE HEADLIGHT IN K-LINE F7 K25201

I'm afraid the perfectionist in me won't allow me to do that, however it did nag me to pull the headlight assembly apart.  What I found is that there is a small clear plastic cap on the inside end of the assembly which houses the bulb.  I gently pulled it off with a pair of small pliers.  It has two holes on the end, but both of the wires for the bulb are routed through one hole.  After assembly the cap was painted black, I guess to mask the light inside the shell.  Anyway, the bulb appears to be an ordinary grain of wheat type bulb and not an LED.

 Can anyone tell me the spec on the bulb?

Ok, now this is really gonna sound stupid but how about just running the unit with the dead headlight as the trailing unit ? Does the other headlight work ? You could always come back later and do the repair if wanted.

Thanks for your response.  I tried it in conventional mode at home and also in TMCC at a local hobby shop without luck, so I think it is out.  I did check with Brasseur and they quoted $60-$80 plus parts.  I already spent $30 at another place (not mentioning names) which claimed that it is a strobe and that it started working while they were messing around with it.  Unfortunately neither claim is true.  I hate to spend that kind of money to replace a bulb.  Actually, having read elsewhere on this site about the difficulty in finding parts since K-line's demise makes me wonder whether I should just sell it on Ebay and forget about it.

Are you 100% sure that the LED is ka-put? If you run in a TMCC environment have you tried using the Cab-1 to turn on the headlight or a "reset" of the loco's system?

As far as parts you should contact www.traindoctor.com , they have/had the repair parts from Lionel after K-Line closedup.

Can anyone please tell me how to replace the LED lamp in the top headlight of a K-line F7, model number K25201?  The lens appears to be glued to the shell and has two very small holes on the back face.  One of these has two white wires coming from it, the other is empty.  I contacted a K-line service station and they said that they don't list the replacement part, but that they would fix it if I send it in.  I guess I would just prefer to fix it myself if possible.
