Chuggington TV Show Question?
Posted by wrawroacx on Thursday, March 11, 2010 10:35 AM

Just this past week I was going through the TV with my young sister and happened to come across a TV Show with talking Trains that have there mouth's moving. I brought up the info about what the name of the TV show is called, and the show is called Chuggington, if anybody has ever heard of it. My question is, If this show becomes very popular, will Lionel or MTH make these Engines for 3 Rail?

My three and a half year old twin grandsons love that show

They grew up on Thomas and Friends and still love it,but these are more like Grampa's trains

I think it will be big!

I looked it up last year after seeing a Chuggington model on eBay. It is a British show. If you search Youtube.com you can find some video clips. The animation is pretty nice.

Yes, it is British. I first saw it in England when I visited my then fiancĂ© (now wife). There is a US version with American voice talent. But having heard the original British voices the US version leaves a little to be desired. However, the show itself is nifty in that the trains actually follow along tracks and sidings. And for the most part they follow somewhat realistic train functions.

Where the pistons keep on charmin' and the wheels go round' and round' And the steel rails are cold and hard for the miles that they go down.

My 4 yr old is facinated by Chuggington. He still loves Thomas and his Geotrax. But I am sure when these trains come out for the wooden railway latter this year he will want them. As for O gauge versions. I think it probably will not happen. If it does it won't be anytime soon. Too many of the trains are of British origins and an american train company won't be willing to front the cash for the tooling. And for those with little train fans:

Wow, I love the concept of the show.  The look is very much like a model train layout and in many of the plots they talk about real train stuff.  The bilevel turntable is a hoot!  It would make an unusual addition to a layout if you were cramped for space.

I've recently introduced my girlfriend, who also loves model trains, to that show.
