Flags for a Standard Gauge Steam Locomotive!!!
Posted by lionel2 on Friday, March 5, 2010 6:07 PM

What is the difference between a large pole flag and a small pole flag??  The small pole is for Electrics and the large pole is for Steam locomotives.  But, I cannot remember which one is the correct one to buy.  The 390-76 (large pole) or the 381-93 (small pole).  I know I need white flags and thats pretty much as far as I can get.  I need flags that fit snug into the flag holders on my 392E from 1935.  If you know which one is the correct one, let me know.  Thanks.

Looking up your part numbers you have on here and in my book I have an answer for you.

All Locos Steam type take the 390-76.

All Locos Electric type take the 381-93.

So you will need the 390-76.

Hope this helps you out.

Take care.

That I am not sure. I would have to look at my engines to tell. It could be just for mounting reasons.

I could ask my dad as I am thinking he would know.

Yeah, that would be a good idea to do.  I am pretty sure the Steam loco have a smaller hole than the electrics.  I need the flags that fit snug into the flag holders of my 392E.  I have some here, but they are too small, probably used for something else.  Maybe like the boilerfront or something.  Thanks
