I opened it up and made sure boards were press down and noticed a pinched wire. Put back together and now it works. Go figure, either a pinched wire or loose board? Just figured I let youz now.laz57

Laz, Is this a new addition to the roster or is this a new problem to the old roster? Have you checked the Lionel site for the wiring schematics? If a new addition this would allow you to see if something was mis-wired from the factory.
Took a quick peek and they should be on an entirely different circuit from each other:

I have a Lionel SP Atlantic engine made about 2000. The problem I have is when I turn on the light the smoke unit goes on. I can not turn it off unless I shut off the light with the Legacy controller. I turned off smoke switch underneath engine and it still goes on with the light. I hit the 8 button and it won't shut it off. I reprogrammed it and still the same thing. It doesn't impair the operation just can't shut off the smoke and have the light on at the same time. Any suggestions?
