Wow!  Thanks everyone for all the compliments.  Posting a video is one small way of sharing the joy of a Christmas layout with others.  And seeing a link to my video in the latest CTT newsletter was a surprise.

I've been attending train shows and collecting a few more Marx items to use in my under the tree layout next Christmas.  It's a lot of fun thinking up a new track plan and working arouind all the other old toys each Christmas.

David - You have really done a wonderful job for us Marx and Tinplate fans. Amazing how these trains have survived all these years. Nice choices for accessories. Thanks!

What a great video. Nice set-up, not too long or too short and a fun track layout.  Thanks so much for sharing here on the Forums.

Just watched your video as a result of the link posted in the CTT newsletter. What an amazing look back in time! Between the train running under the Radio Flyer Wagon and the Mickey Mouse items coupled with the backround music, one cannot help but be drawn into a few minutes of a time long forgotten. Thank you for putting all of the craziness of today's issues on the back burner even if only for a few minutes!

Excellent video! Can't wait for Christmas 2010!

What a great old train. I remember running across a lot of Marx equipment when visiting a childhood friend's Lionel layout ( 57 years ago ). I had American Flyer myself but I could put some of the signals etc. on my layout. Who would have ever thought about scale back in those days.

Nice track plan as well along with the old toys. O-27's great for Christmas Tree set ups.

Keeping the past alive is great for us older folks. Too bad kids today are so involved with those horrible video games. What will become of our beloved old toys when we pass on?

Say, I like that very much. And the vintage toys under the tree make a great touch.

Wow!  Talk about nostalgia!  When I played the video, I thought for a minute that I was standing in front of J. L. Hudson's in downtown Detroit at Christmas-time, drooling, like hundreds of other kids, over the toys and especially toy trains.  THAT WAS 57 YEARS AGO!  Your layout is absolutely stunning in its simplicity and imagination.

Nice video/ (editing), layout, and New Age score for a retro vision.

Thanks for the production/post. Angel

Dave.....What a blast from the past.  Where on earth did you get all of the "supporting cast" pieces to move the entire mood back in time?  WOW.  Good stuff.  How large was that layout dimensionally?

Besides collecting toy trains I have also collected old toys.  Most came from toy and train shows or from Ebay.  The layout is 4' x 8'.  I like to come up with a new track layout for each Christmas.  The 027 track allows you make a more intricate layout in a small space.

Great video! I have a Marx Vanderbilt set in my attic, only it's not in the great shape your trains are! Your Trains-de-Marx look like it's Christmas morning of 1948, and they're just out of the box!

I gotta check mine out now, if I can find them up in the attic...Big Smile

Thanks !

Christmas has been over for some time now and I finally got around to editing the videos of my old Marx Commodore Vanderbilt and 6" Freight Cars running around the Christmas Tree. Take a look, I think you'll enjoy it.
