If your painting plastic you need to find another brand of paint besides Charles Woods paint. It will never dry if you cannot bake it. Does Weaver Scale coat maybe have something you can use? How about Polyscale?

Train restoration paint

 Hi,

I'm doing two postwar S gauge painting restoration jobs...an American Flyer 371 diesel (plastic shell) that I posted a couple of questions about already, and an American Flyer 350 (metal shell).  This 350 is the darker shade of blue, but the Charles Wood paint formula seems to be the lighter blue of the later Royal Blue model with cast-in handrails, etc...

I re-stripped and re-primed the 350 with a darker gray automotive primer, thinking perhaps that will darken up Charles Wood's shade of blue, I don't know.  Am I right?

Who's brand of silver is a close match for the 371 GP-7 plastic shell?

Would like to do both with my spiffy airbrush, but will use a spray paint can upon a decent recommendation.  I've been pretty lucky with maybe 6 or so Lionel boiler shell repaints over the years, they turn out looking nice.  Never repainted anything plastic, though.

Thanks!

p.s. If I've already posted a question regarding this, my apologies.  I couldn't figure out how to go back and look at my old posts
