T-1 Trouble
Posted by HighOnDieselFumes on Friday, February 12, 2010 10:03 PM

Hello, im a newbie to this forum & the web in general. I'v been trying to get my hands on a Lionel Reading T-1 from '89 for a number of years & finally got one. Thought I got a good deal until I got home & found a roller pick up was broken off between the drivers. So far Iv come up short, cant find one anywhere. Would anyone happen to know where I can find one? I called a shop not far from home & they told me Lionel is out of them right now and just my luck, this part is a piece used on only 5 collector line locos. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks....

Try Olsen's or Brasseurs, Mizzels. Or just grab a copy of CTT and start e-mailing the shops.

Sign - Welcome

If you can't find the part thru the CTT mag. parts suppliers maybe you can find a Lionel parts dealer at a train show nearby your area.

I have the Reading T-1 cab # 2124 by MTH, it Proto Sounds 2, it was expensive to purchase but when you really want something, what can you say?

Thank you so much for the referral to Mizzell Trains. They had the roller pick up assembly I needed for my Reading T-1.

Glad to hear it. Thumbs Up

They are also an excellent shop as far as having repairs done. Mizell and Brasseurs are my two repair shops of choice, the only difference being that Mizell is a bit closer.

I tried Brasseurs first but didnt have a good experience. Went to their web site & couldnt find the part # I needed but got the landline #. First time I called I was told w/o a part # he couldnt help me. Second time I called, he walked me thru the web site & simply told me if I didnt see it there he didnt have it. When I emailed Mizzell's, they responded the next day w/we have it, what it cost & S&H. The rest is history. Idk if I'll try Brasseur's again after that but Mizzell's, DEFINATELY!

That sounds really uncharacteristic for Brassuers.  If (and I hope you give them another chance) you need help in the future, ask for Dean.  He's the lead repair guy and I have received nothing but the best service from him.  Glad you got the part you needed!
