I found the parts I need to do the repairs, but I am not sure how to do it. Anyone have any idea how to fix this loco?? Thanks.
I think I might have narrowed it down to just an E-Unit Problem. Tell me what you think. Thanks.
Hello, My friend wants me to fix his 392E standard loco. There are no problems with the whistle tender. But, the loco does not run at all. He thinks its an E-Unit problem. How do you fix this locomotive that might have an E-Unit problem?? First, how do you take it apart to get to the E-Unit?? It has a chugger Unit installed as well and is the version with the red background on the lionel plate on the tender. It is a later version with drum E-Unit I believe. I am good at fixing Drum E-Units, they are pretty much the same as my postwar Locomotives. I have a lot of parts for these types of E-Units. But, I do not know where to begin. Might you know how to fix this problem?? I owe my buddy a big favor and would like to fix this for him. All the parts are there, has new wiring, all the bulbs are in place. Roller pickups look great and so do all the wheels. I am thinking it has to be something electrical or maybe a motor problem. Maybe needs new brushes and springs. Let me know what you think. Thanks for all the help and any info will help a lot.
