Bedroom layouts

Hello[;)] after getting out of the hobby for about 6 year, with ho, i have decided to come back and get right back into it dealing with N scale. Where once my ho layout was set we now have a pool table and the rest of my basement is pretty much covered up frunature computers and a bar. So i have decided that the only place availabe for my layout was under my bed. However i have found out that this is not an easy thing to accomplish, having only a 3 by 6 bed its kinda hard to hide my small layout under it. I am now bribing my father to let me get some room in the basement but untill that works does anyone have any suggestions for bedroom model railroading, right now it would be a great help![:)]

Hi Nscaleboy.. I guess you better ask someone from the model railroader forum.. We all have 0 and bigger scale trains, and they don't fit under your bed. However, I built a layout in a cupboard, which holds a small N-layout and has a size of 4x2 ft. It is a modular track, so besides the cupboard, which holds the station, there is a possibility for extra layout parts to couple on the layout in the cupboard. When done with the trains, you can easily dismantle the extra layout parts and put the under your layout in the space left in the cupboard.
There are 2 pictures on my homepage, use the homepage icons below and choose "andere merken" in the right menubar.
Best is to convince your father to clean out the basement and make a big 0-gauge layout for both of you.. Lots of succes.

You can build a decent N scale layout in 3 x 6 feet if that's your only option. There are several track plan books with interesting layouts this size. If there is not enough height under your bed, it would not be difficult to extend the legs somehow to jack it up. If anything, you could put something like concrete deck footings that home centers sell under the legs.

As others mentioned, the model railroader forum is better for N-scale.
The best site for smaller N-scale trackplans that can fit under the bed is Mike's small track plans:

Another good site is:
