Hey....do you guys think a 2034 is worth restoring or is there a better pw 2-4-2 to restore??? not looking from a collector view but from a operator view....thanks

Go for it! They aren't rare, but they aren't real common either. The motor is the same that the 520 boxcab uses-- pretty reliable, esp. for starter set type locomotion. I finally found a nice one, and it surprises people how it can keep up with (or even embarass) some of its pricier brethren...

Sure, why not restore your 2034, it has nice lines and is better than the plastic bodied 2-4-2's.   It's a nice starter set engine with a cast metal boiler and a good reliable motor.  I found one at a train show that was all beat up.  I stripped the paint, repainted with soft black with a silver nose and added handrails.  The tender I also repainted and relettered Pere Marquette.
