Lionel's New Web.Site:
Posted by Train-O on Sunday, January 31, 2010 10:03 PM

To All Forum Members,

I am disappointed in Lionel's new Web.Site due to the lack of information and history background they once provided.
They, don't even give you info. regarding the scale sizes of their items, you have to really look at the photos. to determine  what scale size the item might be.

Maybe, I didn't utilize their Web.Site properly, but I believe Lionel did away with all the extra info. so's to sell their products.  Who knows, maybe when a customer sees the item in person, they might not buy it, or elect to buy some other more detailed, scale sized and expensive item.

What, I didn't like, with the previous site, was the way Lionel mingled in their three different brand types and you had to click onto that particular item's photo. to find out the difference.
They, should have and even now, section off the three brand types, similar to their catalogs.

I know, I'm getting too old!

Cool

Ralph, its still there you have to click on the short cuts across top of page as in click on "for the hobbiest and then on guides it shows the different gauges of trains. just a new learning curve I myself love it and the parts search even I can find stuff. so how do the rest like the sight?

Their site is a work in progress... I would rather they work on getting the Legacy System Update finished, tested, and out to customers than they work on getting the site revamped... but that is just my opinion.

 CB&Q,

I, thank you for your information.

I did not go to deep into Lionel's new Site., but as Brent points out that their new Site is a work in progress and I agree with Brent.

This new Lionel site you have to guess at which item, that they are referring to,  is Traditional-'O', or Standard 'O.'  I know, the pictures show small and large items, but when you click onto them there is no mention of size, made.

The older site had most of the info. right up front and you had to search only a little for any extra information.

I don't really like Lionel's new site, the blue coloring does not have a calming affect, but a dis-interesting one.
The older one with it's orange, white and blue, not only rang out Lionel, but also, created excitement and interest.  And, as I mentioned above, gave you more info. right up front, right from the get go.

Most times, IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!
You, remember what happened to Coca-Cola years ago with their S----- 'New Coke?'

P.S.

C.T.T., Staff,

Please, do not change the colors of your Web.Site and magazine cover.

In my opinion, they are perfect with their eye catching colors, graphics and photo. placements.

Thank You,

Ralph

I like the new site. I was getting tired of the old one -- very old one.

The new site is brighter and more modern/contemporary looking.

Warburton.... where I would agree with you, when they started revamping the site about a year ago they seem to have stopped. The main page got the face lift, but all the other pages seem to be stuck in the 1990s. Not to mention there has been little to no new content in over 2 months... and the Legacy site has pretty much become as exciting as stale bread...
