Legacy SD40-2 Speed-Step Problem
Posted by magicman710 on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 5:41 PM

Hey Guys,

I have noticed recently that my Lionel Legacy SD40-2 has stated to act up... it doesn't start moving until the 14th or 15th speed step. I know its not a control-type issue, as it is on the Legacy Control setting. Its not a power problem, as my AC6000 starts moving with a 15 car heavy train at the 2nd or 3rd speed step on the same location of track. It is also not a gear or axle being dry problem, both are lubed.

What might be causing this? Any ideas before I contact Lionel about it?

Try doing a factory reset. I had to do that on a few engines that have sat unrun for a while.

Check that you haven't accidently moved the "train break" on your CAB-2.
