F3 B Units
Posted by Cheese on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 12:56 AM

Can anyone tell me how well the paint on the Williams NYC and SF F3 B units match up with the Lionel Conventional Classics NYC and SF F3 AAs? I planned on getting them but due to the fact that matching B units were not offered (does anyone else find that odd?) I am stilll undecisive.

BTW can anyone tell me how the CC Hudson runs? Im considering purchasing the 646 freight set after the F3s.

Also I heard that this series was going to be limited. From what I can tell the series was a success, so why cancel it and re-introduce the more expensie PWC series?

I don't know about the Santa fe but The NYC colors won't match. Williams has a way of coming up with the wrong shades of matching color. If your not in a big hurry to get them wait and see if Lionel will one day offer them. I suspect this may happen but be prepared to pay big time.

If you think about it does it matter. They are cheap enough and if it's what you want get it. I bought K-Line B units that I repainted to match Lionel's Union Pacific and Santa Fe Alco's and the paint was close but no cigar. I figured in the real world they probably did'nt match exactly. But if you are not in a hurry I would wait till Lionel came out with a B-Unit.

Thanks. I dont really need the B unit as of yet so I can wait. Hopefully they will release them with their next issues of the Conventional Classics series.
