Does anyone have this? Can you tell me what features it controls on your MTH PS2 engines? It seem like an inexpensive way to get DCS. Thank you.
What scale are you operating? I have HO and my comments are applicable to HO:
You are not required to buy the entire DCS Commander to operate the MTH sounds. You only need the DCS Controller. A reputable train store will sell you just the controller, even if they have to take it out of a DCS Commander (they can get a replacement--there is a separate inner box containing the controller).
To my knowledge, the Controller gives one the ability to operate ALL the current MTH features, including the PS3 locomotives. I think I got mine for about $129.
The Commander comes with an MTH Power Supply included--which if you already have a decent HO power supply, you do not necessarily need to purchase.
I had bought the MRC 6200 power supply because it puts out plenty of voltage to run MTH engines in plain DC mode--easily up to 16 volts. Originally, I was planning to run multiple makes of HO sound equipped diesels. However, once I began operating the MTH engines, I was so pleased with them that I ended up buying the MTH Controller. I could have saved money by NOT buying the MRC 6200 and bought the complete DCS Commander instead. Live and learn.

MTH DCS Commander: List price $149.95, or with 100 watt power transformer $229.95, (discounts can be found).
This is a self contained Control Box for DCS, and/or DCC systems, it is not a hand held, walk-around, remote. This unit puts out up to 18 volts DC only at up to 5 amps.
If you have only MTH "O" gauge locomotives, and because MTH locomotives will operate DC or AC, this will operate the full DCS functions with its 32 buttons and speed control, but only on the newer PS-2 locomotives using the 3 volt battery system (square Battery Charging Jack)
You can operate DC powered locomotives in Analog, DCS, or DCC switching back and forth. A great unit for the "HO" gauge operator with a mix of locomotives.

Thank you for your reply. I picked up one today from my local hobby shop.
