This is a great forum. Almost everyone here wants to help other hobbyists, so please do not take the following as anything else than suggestions for improvement.
1. When I subscribe to email notification, I get an email for my own message. Other forums, i.e. birdforum.net, exclude the writer from being notified.
2. When you come back to a page, using "Back" or "alt left arrow" it does not reposition back to where you were.
3. For whatever reason, I stopped using the preview option when creating a message. It messed up many times early on, so I have learned to just send, and use the "edit" function. For a while I was making a copy of the message and saving it to my computer. Problem with using edit is that it causes yet another email notification to be sent not only to me, but all others involved in the thread.
4. When I went to the FAQ, I found that the "Back to the top" thing didn't work.
FWIW, I am using Mozilla Firefox. Hope this helps.
Is this the best place to discuss this topic? I searched around and could not find a place for such things.
Bob - Problem 1 does not apply to me, but I'm using the brand new latest Firefox v. 3.5.7 on XP computers and I have not experienced problems 2 - 4. I suspect there's something in your browser configuration that's causing trouble. Have you enabled cookies for the cs.trains.com site?

My version is a bit older than that. 3.0.17. also on XP. Maybe it is time to get the latest. But: cookies are enabled for all sites.
Regarding #2. Does your browser return you to the position on the page you are going back to? That item has been noted my others as a problem. I did not know it had been solved.
#3: I will have to try to find out just what problems I had with the preview earlier on. I suspect that the system "Hid" my initial typing, and I just did not know how to get back to it. I think there is a section here for trying things like that out.
#4 was a minor problem on the FAQ page wherein the "Back to top" don't do anything. Yours does?
I will also look for the "Community Assistance" section. Maybe that is where this discussion belongs, as it is not about trains and affects all the sections, not just this one.

I did try it out: the problem is if you leave the page where you are typing , for example to look at someone else's post, you can't get back to it. It is a blank sheet. Heading says "Write a new post" I am not asking it to be fixed, I have found a workaround.

#2 - I use the back button to go back to the list from a message and it does return me to the spot from which I started.
#3 - My work around here is to open the message writing window in a new tab.
#4 - I don't recall ever reading the faq but when I did just now "return to top" was useless.
I noticed when I first joined up that this forum is a little "quirky," just learned to live with it.

Mine definitely doesn't do that. If I start from the page listing the topics:
http://cs.trains.com/trccs/forums/95.aspx, then go read a thread, no matter how I go back to the list of topics, it starts me at the top. Guess it is just something I'll have to live with.
Edit note: I just upgraded to Firefox 3.5.7, and that version does return to the previous location.
Texas Pete#3 - My work around here is to open the message writing window in a new tab.
That will work.
