Nice Photography! Nice Story!

I enjoyed the article on the San Diego Club, but I especially enjoyed the great photography! I thought it was the nicest photo spread that I have seen in CTT in a while.

Yes, but did you read how they phrased the museum's layouts:

"Two FANTASTIC Ho layouts, an N scale MASTERPIECE, and a "neat" O scale railroad.

We go to San Diego every year to visit family and I would suggest that before you use your family vacation to fly there from any great distances, you re-read that sentence again. I was sorely disappointed when we went there because that sentence sums up the true layout "pecking order." HO is king, N is second and shoved into a back room is O.

Now, I'm not saying it isn't nice and well done. Oh no! It's a thing of beauty. I'm just saying that it is not the center of attraction there. I have seen larger layouts on the pages of CTT.

Guys you are missing something here. there IS an "O" scale layout, 2 HO layouts and A "N" layout, PLUS our 3 rail layout in the back room, we are the last group and had to take what was left, We tried to do the best we could with what we had to work with.
I'm glad that you appreciate the pictures, we feel that they show our many hours of work in a very beautiful way. I hope many of you get a chance to visit, not only us, but the entire museum. Several of the 3-Railers are forum members so if you identify yourself to us you could get a little history of the club, we are very eager to talk about the layout.

I wasn't saying there was NO O, I merely pointed out that it is shoved in a back room, and is the least of the museum. I also point out that it is nice, just not very big on the grand scale of things at the museum. I was not meaning to belittle. If you got that impression, I am sorry. It's just a bit disappointing and I'd hate for someone to drive from say New Jersey just to see it. Of course, if you're heading that way anyway, do stop by.

Oh Heavens No Jack , absolutely no offence taken, I just wanted to inform about there being an "O" scale AND an ""O" Scale 3-rail HI- Rail layout. there are 5 layouts total in the museum. And a trip all the way from NJ is a long way just to see a museum.
Stop by anytime except Mondays as the museums are closed.

The layout is indeed beautiful, and despite any feeling of inferiority because of it's relative status in the museum, it stands as a fine layout in its own right.

My comments, particularly about the photography, were aimed at past criticisms I had made regarding other layout articles in CTT and certain individual photographers tendency to shoot portraits of locomotives and rolling stock, with the layout as an out of focus and/or poorly framed backdrop. It was nice to be able to see the layout this time and get a real feel for the whole creation.
