Other train forums?
Posted by Fordiesel69 on Saturday, January 9, 2010 4:02 PM

I was wondering if there is any other good train forums out there dealing with O scale?  I really like this forums, the results are very good and there is interesting discussions, I just like to read the old stuff and was wondering if there was any others out there.

The key word is good.

Yes there are other forums.  Use a search engine and you can find several.  One forum that I have found very good is the ATLAS forum and web pages.

There is Model Train Journal aka MTJ which is good, Atlas has a forum and then there is O Gauge Railroading aka OGR which is okay if you love MTH and hate Lionel.

Depends on what you are looking for.  O-gauge Railroading has a good forum with plenty of useful information, but some very strong personalities.  I have seen some folks with little experience be treated poorly.  Atlas is pretty good.  I have visited several others, but have found them not to be very nice.  The folks here at CTT keep a fairly tight ship regarding foul language and the put downs and personal attacks that take place often in other arenas.

I frequent the Tinplate Forum on OGR and have found the folks there to be friendly and helpful. My primary interest is Tinplate so I only have experience there.  As with any online forum there are always strong personalities. By gosh, I think we might even have a few here.  Smile,Wink, & Grin  I don't mind stong personalities but I do appreciate a sense of respect and restraint along with the strong personalities.  Its part of the reason I lurk more than I contribute.
