Marklin HO Scale Help.
Posted by Fordiesel69 on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 4:23 PM

I have an older marklin locomotive that uses the center pickup nibs on the track.  I cannot find anyone knowledgable or places to get parts.  My problem is I have no idea what transformer to use, I need a new picup or collector, and I need to find out if it is even worthy of restoring.  If anyone thinks they can help me, I would be happy to take picutures as I cant find any numbers.

One difference that may make you want to get a Maerklin transformer is that the reversing unit is stepped by a higher-voltage pulse, not by interrupting the track voltage in the American fashion.

You may find it amusing that the Germans call those "nibs", "punktkontakten" or "point contacts", which they shorten to "pukos", with an English plural for some reason that I can't understand.
