Open house idea
Posted by FJ and G on Tuesday, June 1, 2004 8:07 AM
The NMRA local chapters have open houses. I went to one on Sunday. I wi***hat we could have those as well. I think that TCA has them but there's a local and national fee that you must first pay. Would be neat to have an informal open house network.

This works and several guys over here in Montgomery County MD do it now. They agree
to exchange visits and and a group of 10 decide to do it on say Thrursday. Then the
host for next visit gets coffee and donuts ready. The guys come over and run trains .The
next thing they watch train videos while drinking cofee and eating the donuts. Some groups meet twice a month and some do it once a month. Bringing trains to run on the host's layout is encouraged. Up to now the two rail scale guys don't mix with the 3 railers(ever). If you are interested I am. E-mail me off the forum. trainsopray1@aol.com

The garden railway folks do this all the time around here. I don't know how it works but I believe it is promoted by the San Diego Garden Railway Society(?) not totally sure of the name.
Have you ever checked Thor's site about the "Train Runner Groups" now that is an idea that has great merit.
