Crazy glue will work.  I've used it many times.Jim

Thanks, Jim.  Crazy glue, it will be.

Do you use styrene plastic to rebuild missing pieces or some other type of plastic?

American Flyer Diesel Switcher - Plastic Shell
Posted by richhotrain on Monday, January 4, 2010 5:57 AM

I have an American Flyer diesel switcher that my parents bought for me way back in 1957.

All these years later, I have pulled it out of storage and got it running again.

But, the rear platform is broken off and missing. So are the front stairs on one side.

I would like to restore this missing pieces, but I wonder what type of plastic it is made of and what type of plastic would be suitable for restoration purposes.  It is probably not styrene plastic, but I cannot say for sure.  Can anyone help me?

Also, what type of glue or cement would I use to bond the new pieces to the original shell?

Thanks

Rich
