Back in the 80s someone told me it was more expensive to have Lionel trains in Canada. I think they also told me that house current was DC?
Modeling the "Fargo Area Rapid Transit" in O scale 3 rail.
Every where I've been in Canada the current has been AC. The only reason I can think costs would be higher are import duties. Looking at the list of Lionel service centers the majority of authorized dealers are in the Onterio provence.
the only other reason I can think of is that they were trying to compare 1$ us to 1$ canadian and I believe back then the us $ was = to about $1.15 of canadian so you look at a $100. set and in canada it would of been $115.00 plus any tariffs for shipping in

As are 39% of Canadians.
