Jon,
Hi, you have an awesome layout, and your video's are great!!
Thank you for sharing,
George
Thanks for the kind words. As you can see, I do try to have fun!
Wow!! I really love your layout. Oh and nice Lionmaster Hudson.
Give me steam locomotives or give me DEATH!
Berkshire Junction, bringing fourth the cry of the Iron Horse since 1900.
Fantastic video & layout Jon! Was the Bascule Bridge an original or the late 1990's remake?
Excellent combination of classic toy train accessories and artistic details to add realism in the overall look. I hope to use a similar layout style in my future layout. The cattle car and corral caught my attention because they seemed to work much better than most I've seen. Was this a MTH product? Thanks for sharing!
I did not get my Feb. 2010 C.T.T. magazine yet to enjoy your layout, but congratulations for making it into C.T.T.
The video, which you provided is excellent, fun and enjoyable.
Thank You,
Have A Healthy And A Happy New Year,
Ralph
The Bascule Bridge is the re-make from the 1997 Heritage Catalog. The only odd thing about it is that the motor surges to the blinking of the red light!
The Cattle Corral is late 1990's Lionel production. The key to great operation, like with most vibrating accessories, is to supply the right voltage.
The second secret is: I've propped the back end of the corral up on a 1/8" piece of wood, reducing the grade that the cows have to climb to get back in the car. If you do this, the wood can be covered up with scenery to hide your "trick".
Jon, that was neat. Thanks for sharing with us.

JON,
Excellent video! Love all your accessories. The NYC Hudson sounds awesome.

Awsome! Your video should inspire a lot of people. I love accesories and the way you have incorporated them is great.

Nice video. I really like the postwar trains and accessories.
Now you folks know what I've been ravin' about. All this in a 12x12 L-shaped layout, controlled by TMCC. There are other accessories as well not shown in this beautifully edited video.
4 paws up!!!
Jon ... I can only rate this as FABULOUS ! Did you do the video recording yourself ? Man hollywood and Lionel with all there millions could'nt have done better ... and never have ! Maybe you've found your second profession ... flawless and extremely entertaining .
I shot the scenes in around an hour yesterday morning. Then I dropped them into iMovie on my new computer. iMovie 2009 has a whole bunch of really neat effects, and the editing is easy. The iMovie version in my old iMac G-5 was nice, but this version is much more user-friendly to people without computer editing experience. It also has neater effects.
As Fife says, the layout is really quite small, so getting the shots I want can be hard. Sometimes trees have to come out. A small tripod really helps. I found that experimenting with the ambient room-lighting makes a huge difference too.
Once your shot is set, my new Canon HS-200 has a wireless remote to start the shooting. Then your hands are free to run the trains into the scene and operate the accessories.
Well Done! Congrats on the publication and video!
Don
Congrats and thank you. Great job on all of the details. Now that my basement is cleaned out, the wife and I are negotating. That is how much is for a pike and how much for the grandchildren.
