Why not start by giving us a list of what you've got?  The numbers on the sides of the pieces are their Lionel model numbers.  Also, describe your track, and see what numbers you can find on your transformer.

Dave,

I am new to this site also, but the coincidence is that I received my first train set for Christmas in 1953. I agree with Bob to post the numbers of your pieces, the engine number will tell us the most if it is O27 or O gauge and the transformer number so that if you decide to add operating accessories you will have enough power before upgrading the transformer.
