How do you lube and oil the 10E locomotive?  Are there spots on the motor that I should oil and lube?  Thanks.

The 10E uses Lionel's super motor. It has a drum type commutator. You should lube the ends of the armature shaft, gears and the wheel axles. Make sure the copper spring has good tension keeping the rollers firmly on the track and clean and oil their axle points. If this doesnt work you can usually clean the commutator surface from the bottom with a pencil eraser.

If you are looking for a rare train, ask i might surprise you with an asking price!!! A guy asked if i liked fast track, and i replied i used t-rail. He said eww that old stuff you bolt together???? Ignorance must be bliss!

Ok,  thanks.  I just got done cleaning the commutator surface with an eracer from a pencil.  I oiled the axle points and I lubed the ends of the shaft, gears,a nd wheel axles. All is good now.  One more question:  The 10E, Is it supposed to have red painted drivers? Red paint just on the spokes? Mine has red drivers and I am wondering if this is original or should they be black or plain color.  Thank you very much, I can always count on you for help with my standard trains.  Its just so hard to find answers on 80+ year old trains like these.
