Parts help
Posted by ED WHITFORD on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 6:48 AM

I just took in for repair a 8800 with the SOS system in the tender. However the bard in the tender (8204T-34) is shot and will not produce sound. We have 3 of these as well but they too do not work. I just never got around to look for replacements. But now that I have one in the shop I need to.

I would appreciate any and all help with this. As I have looked at a few parts dealers but have come up empty.

Thank you in advance and take care.

Ed

Ed your number isn't the one I have.

The 8102-T51 SOS board w/ 3-prong plug is available from Brasseur's for $22.00

http://www.traindoctor.com/service/lionel/8010to8200.asp

There's also a SOS board with whistle: 8215-T15, also listed as being in stock at Brasseurs but is almost double the price of the other board. Hope this helps.

The engine and tender set up is the one's from the 1970-1973/4 time period. They would be in the Milwaukee Road, B&O and Pennsylvania passenger set's. With a single wire coming from the tender sound system going to the smoke unit having the copper taps on it to where every time the plunger moved you would hear the Sound of Steam. If you go to Lionel's Web sight look up 70-8304-250 you should see the owners manual on this type of engine and tender.

Thank you for the input though, I will give Dean a call over there just to double check.

Take care.

If your unable to find what you need call Chuck Sartor at Mizells trains in Colorado. He is always very helpful and carries a large parts selection.
