Lionel Item # 1100 1934 Mickey Mouse Hand Car, Need help with it
Posted by GCarr79 on Saturday, December 26, 2009 8:44 PM

My Grandfather just passed away and he left me his 1934 mickey mouse handcar the item number on it is 1100, with the original box and track and wind up key. I can't find anything on the net about this about the value. I would like some help getting it operational again.

Thanks for the help guys!

Good evening all,

Holy s---!  Gcarr979, that is quite a gift!  Depending on the condition (and given the fact you have the original box and track, it should be quite good), it could be worth quite a chunk of change.  I am not sure what is needed to get it operational as it was a windup (clockwork) set.  As long as you have the key, the internal mechanism is intact, and nothing is broken, it should run just fine.  Whatever you do, do not sell it right away!  The reason data may be scarce is that piece is scarce and does not come on the market very often.  Others from here will chime in as well, and I would advise thinking long and hard about selling such a family heirloom.  If you can figure out how to post a picture, I would love to see it.  Thank you for posting your inquiry here.

I couldn't agree more with Mike, don't sell it if you can avoid it.  Probably one of the most preferred collector items.  Ideal as a family heirloom.  I would recommend preparing some documentation to accompany it for future refereance.

 Thanks Mike,

It does have the key with it. everything is still with it and the handcar is in great shape, even the paint is still on it, a little flake came of of Mickey's nose. I tried to wind it up and it runs just a few seconds then stops. So I have been looking for someone to repair it. could you recommend anyone?

Gary,

I think I know some one who has one.  They may have run theirs, and I can ask them what a "normal" run time would be. Clockworks usually do not run too long even in the best of circumstances.

Also, I wouldn't touch up or repaint Mickey's nose.  Its part of his character now.
