The boxes are a plus, no tender is a minus.
A 773-1960s locomotive and tender at York, in excellant condition, would bring about $1200, maybe less. A little high starting price, photo too dark to show needed detail, no return policy. I would need a name or a TCA Number.
Lionel was on the way to bankruptcy and receivership in the mid-1960. They brought back the 773 Hudson which was much like the 773 from 1950, but not the same. Castings were good, nickle trim on the siderods were poor and lacked the high polish of the 1938 - 1941 and 1950 hudsons. Stored in a box for 40 years (no Silaca Jell packets to keep it dry) could show tarnish on trim parts. The proper tender is the plastic, streamlined, 8 wheel 2046W type lettered "Pennsylvania" in 1964. In 1965-66 the tender was lettered "New York Central".
773LTS locomotive & tender list (in 1966) $90
Set 13150, Hudson, 7 cars, track, pair of remote switches, ZW transformer, list price $225

The one thing I'll say in defense of the seller.Small marks can be caused by factory test runs.
Second ,not exactly against the seller....BUT.
Unless you are,or know the original seller and can verify, you can never list something as " never run ".
It's just not a 100% guarantee.
But it is a nice 773 from what I can tell.I don't have one,so all 773's look nice to me .

I agree about the mark on the roller. It's pretty obvious it's been run. The edge of the drive wheels also show running wear and there's rust all over the drive rods. Hardly what I'd call mint condition.
I went and blew up the pic ... there IS a roller mark on the rear roller ... in my opinion it HAS been run and not just a one loop around the track !
Probably the best way to tell if it has been run is look at the pickup rollers and/or the commutator. There will be witness marks on both of these if it has been run. They may be very faint, so it is going to take a good picture to see them.

Even if it has never been run, the motor could have zinc pest. My '60s 773 does. There's no way to tell without opening it up.

Yep, that is a toughie, buyer beware. I have a Post War 2349 that has never had a jolt of electricity through it but you could never tell that by pictures. Sometimes you need visual verification.

Hello
Was scanning the site today and saw item numer 180449106180. Sorry i couldnt post the link but im not tech savy at all. It is a 464 cab number 773 that the seller claims has never been run . I am wondering what would one need in pictures to prove this claim. To me by looking at what i see there is no way to validate this claim. Do you folks think this is poosible? That its really never seen a track.
