Looking for info on LIONEL #2037
Posted by SleeperN06 on Saturday, December 26, 2009 6:00 PM

I bought a LIONEL #2037 Locomotive off of eBay and it was supposed to come with a Manual. At least it showed one in the photo. Anyway I have some questions about it.

1)     It has 1 large wheel and 1 smaller one on the rear truck. Is that correct?

2)     Is there a switch to turn off the smoke heater?

3)     And how does the body come off? I want to clean it up and inspect it.

4)     Where can I get a manual if I can’t get the one from the photo?

Any help will be very much appreciated thanks.

Thanks, JohnnyB

The trailing truck is correct.  No heater switch; that type can be run empty indefinitely without damaging it.  To remove the motor, take out a screw from the top of the boiler and drive out a transverse pin located at the firebox (just ahead of the cab).

Make sure you drive the transverse pin out the correct direction.  One end is serrated.  That end should come out.  Don't drive it through the locomotive as it will not clear the hole in the motor and then it may not stay in place after you reassemble the motor.

Oh, I’m glad you mentioned it or I probably would have done it wrong. Thanks
