Union Pacific 3985
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, May 30, 2004 12:18 PM
I hope everyone is having a safe Memorial Day weekend. I just thought some of you might be interested to know that the Union Pacific is sending #3985 to Houston for a couple of weeks. it recently passed through here in Kansas City. Check out the UP web site for a schedule, route map and a neat GPS tracking page that shows the engines current location and some great detail of the tracks in the area. It's headed south and will pass through Louisiana later this week. It will be returning to Wyoming in late June, coming north back through Kansas to Kansas City then up to Des Moines before heading west across Nebraska. I got to chase it back in February when it came back from the Super Bowl. Had a great day and went out and bought the Lionel Challenger and a set of MTH passenger cars for my layout.

I wish it would come back to St Paul, maybe next year. Here are a few shots I took of it when it was here a couple of years ago.

Pat, when I saw it near Bryan, it was two water tenders, an SD70, and 27(!) streamliners, including two observation cars, one running backwards.
