I know that you all have been asked this question but her it is. I am going to buy a starter set after christmass. I have little over $200 to start off. Is there any sets that i should not get? My planes are two fold. I want a cool layout in the future and i also think that i would like to collect.
Thanks
Matt
I cannot think of any set that you should not get, but maybe others will. The Lionel sets are a good value for starters. Will you need track and transformer? What do you like? Myself, I like everything. My first train was a Lionel 4-4-0 General and cars a very long time ago. Do you want modern trains or older? How about scale. Do you have a lot of room for a future layout or a smaller area? These are just some questions I would ask myself to help decide. There are more.
the only set I might try to steer you away from is the nascar sets as the engines are not that strong of a puller they can handle what comes with them but don't add a lot to them. Now that said If your looking for a good starter set you have some great steam ones NYC,PA,SF, etc etc. they come with a nice engine and track and transformer to get you going and a few cars and you Can grow from there.
