Hi, Everyone,
Please, would someone advise me if they have experienced the same problem that I have?
My Brandeee New, I know, 2006 Lionel #6-18375, Lackawanna #850, FM TM diesel's top area has three small pimpled marks, which started yesterday. I just got this engine, this past Fri. and all was beautiful.
It's a Christmas gift, from Santa Claus, ordered by my family, because my childlike mind wanted it and I was inspired by lionelsoni and Deputy. Notice, how I put the blame on them and my arm being twisted to want one!
It is a great engine, but I don't know if these marks are from the Lionel liquid smoke, I'm using, being caustic, or the smoke and paint job not being compatible?
Also, when this item was sold, was it as a seperate item, or was it sold as a SET along with #6-18376, #851 the Non-Working/Dummy Unit?
Thank You, Merry Christmas,
Ralph
Sound like the paint might be contaminated. I seen it happen to cars when getting painted. It's known as "fish eye" but it shows up when they paint it rather quickly. Or something got on it maybe a chemical. Post some pics.
PhilaKnight,
Thanks for your reply.
I was running my engine again and I saw the hot liquid smoke spit out of the stack and onto the egine's top, so I wiped it off fast.
It's either the paint, as you mention, or the liquid smoke, or both. It's Lionel smoke fluid that did it, so I'm going to try and see what happens with JD-Mega Steam "Diesel Power" fluid. Some, fellow forumites mentioned JD, to another forumite, that's how I found out about it.
I can't get JD-Mega Steam locally, so I ordered diredctly from the proprietor Jeb, who's real friendly and concerned and not because he's selling his product. He admits it cost more than other brands and that's probably why not too many stores carry it, but he states that his product is much finer and thiner in cosnsistency, than other brands.
As. for the photos., I don't have a digital camera, but the photo. section man, my son, has many different cameras and he's out with his girlfriend.
Thank You,
Merry Christmas and a Healthy, Happy New Year,Ralph
