Help with transformers/power supply
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, November 9, 2001 8:28 AM
Looking for some advice on transformers. The old one with my dad's old 027 gauge lionel trains is questionable. Do they make new transformers that work with these old trains or can you get them rewired and is that safe??
Thanks in advance.

Hi Liz,

Lionel sells new transformers in various sizes. You can find them all in the catalog sections of the Lionel website (www.lionel.com). I believe they start at about $40. Make sure you get one with a whistle button. All the new lionel transformers will operate the older Lionel trains.

My guess is that a service station will charge about 15 to 25 dollars to repalce the power cord. I had one replace several years ago. I don't remember the exact cost, but they did it while I waited (about 10 minutes).

A penny saved is a penny earned. But every once in a while it is good to treat yourself to a gum ball.
