"ALL TRAINS DAY" is almost here!

All Trains day is very appropriate for me.  Three years ago tomorrow I built a 4 X 8 table and dragged out my AF trains that had probably been stored since 1960.  My father in law was here for the weekend, and we built the table and started setting up trains.  I have been playing with them every week since, the table is now 5 x 10, and about to go U shaped. 

I don't always get much done, but it has been great fun playing with the trains, shopping ebay, going to train shows and trying to figure out how I will expand my layout to get some good long runs and use some new accesories. Oh yes and some grades, or multi levels!

I think you have a great idea, and I hope more people are motivated to go unpack their toys!

I define it as "Semi-Controled Chaos Day", the Kids Club is running the club's layout tomorrow. I'll be one of the traffic cops.

Growing up, the day after Thanksgiving was always when we set up our trains in the basement.  We had some Atlas HO and a mix O gauge; mostly Marx with some prewar Lionel mixed in.   Buildings ranged from tinplate Lionel, Plasticville, Licoln Logs, Erector Set structures, and a versatile plastic snap-together village set called Guildancetown.  All the buildings were lit with a string of carefully placed C9 Xmas tree lights.  Not everything was in scale but it didn't matter we had fun!  We spent the whole day setting things up, wiring accessories and running trains.   I now refer to this day as "All Trains Day".  It's a holiday that I'll always cherish.   Currently, I operate trains on the club layout the whole weekend to celebrate.  I would encourage everyone that does not have their trains set up, to dig them out and even if it's just a temporary set-up for the next day or two, get them running and have some fun.  Train season is here!  Make All Trains Day part of your family's holiday traditions and fond memories.
