Chuck,

On the bottom of the steam chest there's another screw which, I believe holds up the steam chest and the motor in it's place.
Type in: "Olsen's Toy Train Parts" and go to their 'Library.'

 HI Larry

Thanks....   I found one screw inside the pilot's compartment and removed it. But there seems to be something holding it in place still at both ends. I can wiggle the motor a bit, but it is still connected and I'm not seeing any other screws that look like they could be holding it.

There is a motor mount screw behind the shell

For parts try Traindoctor.com

Hope this helps

1615 Switcher Engine question
Posted by ChuckM on Friday, November 20, 2009 7:09 AM

I just came in possession of a 1615 switcher engine set that had been in a box in a garage for the past  45 years or so.  It had not been treated well in it's day. The 1615 has some broken parts (mainly the connecting rods on the side) but I was able to get it running with some initial cleaning and lubricating. This was encouraging.    Now I want to take it apart and do a proper job of cleaning....the problem I have is that I can't figure out how to separate the electric motor from the engine shell.   Is there anyone out there that can give me some guidance on this?   Also,   any advice on where to get some replacement parts?

thanks

Chuck
