Art Deco Layout

The July magazine certainly has returned CTT to its classic toy train roots with a lot in the magazine for the traditional toy train lover; the only hi-rail exception being the San Diego museum layout.

I like the Art Deco fascia on the 4X8 layout and the trackplan and accessories are nicely placed. About the only thing I didn't like too much was the multi-colored mountain made from copper; an innovative technique from the old Lionel days; but you can't please everyone!

That fascia certainly was impressive and the layout was not overwhelming with items and track - though I like lots of stuff - I can appreciate, like Dave said, how everything was nicely placed.

Yup. CTT needs to do more of these neat articles. This is
the type of thing that would encourage new members to
get started on their layouts. Woodwork is nicely done and
reminiscent of Lionel display layouts. Would have been
nice to see more explanation of how the woodwork for the
table was done, though. It contributes much to the overall
appearance and function of the layout.

It really was a layout which had the spirit of the 1930 breathing. Even the copper mountains,though it looks horrible, it belongs to that era.

The Art Deco Layout featured in the most recent issue of CTT was great. I had always planned to replicate and build a copy of Lionel's First Scenic Railways Dealer Display No. 178. Now, after seeing the feature on the Art Deco Layout, I have sufficient inspiration to do so.

That was a great feature! The Rock enjoys seeing layouts like that much more than any detailed hi-rail layout. It's the nostalgia factor you know![;)]

I really enjoyed the article as well. The molding really looked sharp, and the accessories fit well together.

That article gave me some inspiration since I am working on a 4x8 layout and kinda like that old Lionel look although mine would be a 50's Lionel dealer type of setup.
