We need someone from Lionel to address our questions
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, May 21, 2004 11:54 PM
I have several questions that need to be answered and calling Lionel on the phone or emailing them doesn't seem to work. So...How about it?? You all say that these people lurk on our board. Well, I have some questions for them.
DO YOU???[;)][;)]

In all honesty Jack, I can't say that I do have any questions for Lionel or any other manufacturer, but then I haven't been buying any new trains for over 5 years.

What kind of questions do you have?

Actually, if you just ask the questions here, Bob or Neil or one of the other members may have the answer.

If you have ever tried TALKTOUS you will know why the man says, we need someone to answer questions! What a bunch of Maroons they are!

Here is how stupid they are. They recently made available online the owners manuals for quite a few items. One that was missing was the Scale N&W J. So, I email TALKTOUS and request that they add the J manual to the list. Listen to this [:o)]'s reply.

We don't know what you are talking about. Give us a product number.

Give us a product number? Now explain to me just exactly how many "Scale N&W J's" Lionel has made in the last 100 yrs. that you would need a "product number"?

Is this what corporate America has come to? If this genius doesn't know anymore about his company's merchandise than that, he/she ought to be thrown out the door.

That's just one of the stupid answers that I have received from Lionel.

I e-mailed them and it took nearly two weeks for an answer.

Well guys, I'm not talking about tech questions. I am talking about things that only people from Lionel can answer.

1) Why are there no unpowered diesel engines made for every powered one?
2) Isn't there a TMCC DVD?
3) Why can't we have the same options for our tubular track that you have for FasTrack? I suppose they like letting there profits go to Ross and Gargraves and Atlas.

And this is just the tip of the ice berg.

I have asked them if they have repro shells for f3's. They make repros for everything else, right down to tender bodies. Why not make F3 shell repros with copy heat stamped on the inside. They told me to read OGuage Railroad magazine and I might find some one that makes them. Still nothing yet!! [V][sigh] Oh well I guess at least the answered me.

You are right Amtrack Jack. Seems like the only "inside" info. we get is from Marty, the Williams Guy. He keeps us informed. It would sure be nice if someone from one of the companys, if not on their own, through someone else, would let us know what is going on. Look on all the forums just about shipping delays. Why can't someone just tell us the container is late, the quality isn't good so we sent it back, we wanted more detail... etc.etc. We all have to admit, though, that a lot of forum members would eat a rep. alive on these forums. I can see both sides of the coin I guess, but the frustration level is high, and it might do some company some good to give some simple answers.
