Thanks Pat, I have an old 164, and was just kind of winging it from memory. It is nice to know that some things are still the same as they used to be.[swg] I'll have to take the time to go poking around the Lionel website one of these days. Part of me is still living in the dark ages. I'm still using an old K-line hard bound book.[;)]

rkmp,
Check here http://www.lionel.com/Supplements/Supplement34/34601-2915-000Complete.pdf

Just to clarify AS Elliot had mentioned above!

The bottom of the log loader will have two terminals stacked in line with each other and three terminals side by side.

Connect 14v AC power to the 2 terms.

Connect the controller (with 2 push buttons & a 3 wire cable) to the three terms.
If one motor works and one doesn't you'll need to switch any two wires.
Do this until both work.

Push buttons and/or switches can be used if the controller is missing.

That's the reproduction of the one with the chain drive that lifts the logs, and a then you release them when they get to the top. This should have two switches. An on / off switch for the motor to run the lift, and a momentary switch to dump the logs down to the car below.

I'm guessing that this version has a removable controller. Are there 3 wires going to it?
There should be 5 terminals total. A group of 3 and a group of 2. The 2 hook up directly to the transformer, and the 3 are for the controller. If the controller cable is flat, just untwist it and connect the wires in order. If that doesn't work just flip them. It should be as simple as that.

Lionel 6-12915 164 Operating Log Loader wiring question
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, May 19, 2004 9:09 PM
Recently came by a Lionel 6-12915 164 Operating Log Loader built in 1996. I want to see if it works but there is no operating manual. Can anyone please tell me how to connect the wires properly from power supply and controller to unit?
Thank you
