dbaker48,

command base is on rolling table under layout in between tpc and power brick. I've tried multiple locations even suspended the base from ceiling hanging in mid air just can't seem to find it's happy place. right now I have antenna acting as a chimney on roof of roundhouse and still not a happy camper but like I said before it seems fine on the vertical but hates the horizontal. makes me think of my early dcs days till I hung the tiu on the vertical now it's happy as can be. thanks for the thoughts also I have tried all 9 channels and not any better including the use of a hawking antenna.

Where is the command base relative to the CAB-2, when you have the red light?  Possibly interferance from another device in the house?  For testing purposes try setting the command base on top of layout, maybe a different channel?

hello chuck, I was getting a lot of time outs was on channel 9 the whole time so figured what to lose except my settings need to learn it better anyway figured it was a learning tool as well. the red light would actually freeze the cab 2 where no commands would clear it on going since I got it including the upgrade we had to send them back for. I understand we maybe getting a new module sometime this year whats left of it hope it cures this problem. thanks for your input.

Unless the engines/accessories are behaving badly when the red light pops on, ignore it.  The earlier version of the firmware actually did this for you (aka it just didn't cause the LED to flash).   This "feature" is supposed to possible issues with stuff that isn't even available yet but will need a cleaner/clearer signal for proper control.  I've had the red light pop up when I've been on the other side of the house from the base yet the engine still responded to commands (aka I could hear the bell ring and the whistle blow).

When everything else fails, play dead
