Hi all,

Even though we have not pick a name yet, it was suggested that I should add a couple pictures of the real Willoughby to the train room. Well this past weekend I stopped at the historical society and pick up some 8 x 10 picture of old Willoughby.

We should be picking a name this weekend.

When I saw the words on the first postcard, I thought of Willow Street Pa. It's a little bit south of Lancaster.

OK Buckeye,

For the rest of you, the town next door to me is EASTLAKE, Ohio. The big thing in Ohio news is that it build a beautiful Single A baseball stadium, for a Indians farm club. Not all the moneys have come in for it and the city is about $3,500,000.00 in the hole now. It’s a great ballpark, and I love going to the games, but I am glad I don’t live in Eastlake, and don’t have to worry about new taxes. [:D]

They used to also call Cleveland ‘The mistake on the Lake’. [B)]

I love all the suggestion so far. I will try to take some pics of Willoughby as it is today. It’s not much different from the 1900, just no trolley tracks on the main street.

Rick H. I can’t even pronounce that. [:(]

I do like Rascals Grove and Parrots Cove. [8D]

Anyone else wi***o help [?]

What kind of animal is your "east mistake on the lake, ohio" named after? Do you have a gen-manipulated goldfish?
In spankytown you could play hanky-spanky music..
Let's see, I have a Jack Rusell named Ulle, and my girlfriend has a chihuahua named Bully.. I could use Ullebulle as a town name..
I guess no-one takes me serious when I do that...

I'd go with "Willoughby," also. Maybe for a reason besides charm--although it does sound really nice. One of my favorite old TV shows was an episode of the Twilight Zone (the original one) where a man who commutes to work by train everyday keeps falling asleep and dreaming of a town named "Willoughby" while he travels home. The town is nearly a paradise, and looks quite old-fashioned. At the end of the show, he gets off in Willoughby and finds it is as beautiful and peaceful as he dreamed. (Of course, the down side is that he died in the "real" world when he got off the fast-moving train...)

Still, it's a nice name and a nice town. I'd make use of it.

why not Birdland? :) You can play jazz in the background. I too like Willoughby. Those are neat postcards - Willoughby looks exactly like Crystal Lake did in that time period.

Naming our town [?]
Posted by spankybird on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 8:02 AM
Hi all,

We thought it was time to name our town. I have giving this much thought and wanted to here from all of you to see if you can offer some suggestion.

Because we live in Willoughby, Ohio and many people think that I modeled our downtown area, maybe it should be something like WilloHill, Ohio.

This is the real Willoughby about 1920 or so and here is my downtown

I also thought of naming it Rascal Village because Spanky is a Little Rascal. By the way, his brothers name is Alfalfa. The breeder started to name all her babies from the Little Rascals.

Give me your thought and my wife and I will pick one.

Thanks

tom
