Photos from the Cincinnati in Motion Exhibit. This the best layout found in Ohio and a must see if you are near the Cincinnati area this summer.

Good Morning All,

This week we wanted to share with you a small layout that we are still working on.

HERE COMES THE CIRCUS

This is not a real large layout, 5’ x 8’.
Both engines are MTH PS2 circus engines


The tent is made of craft paper which will serve as a pattern to making a cloth tent.


The center ring has a turn table mounted under it so the animals rotate around the ring.


The Mary-go-round rotates and is light and has music. 15 different songs and 15 different Christmas songs.

Buckeye, Thanks for the photos, I grew up just across the river on a small farm in No. Ky. Later when I was a fireman for B&O, Lima Div., I would sometimes catch a job off the extra-board working the C.U.T. [:)]

Doug, that's a permanent exhibit on the top (ground) level of the Cincinnati History Museum wing of thew Union Terminal. It is a must-see when visiting Porkopolis. There are video kiosks around the layout exhibition which show the craftwork that went into constructing it; every structure was built on-site by a squad of artists and modelers. The exhibit is a railroader's dream. It doesn't matter if you don't know a thing about Cincy, you certainly will by the time you exit the museum! Allow at least three hours to enjoy the exhibits in at a leisurely pace.

Here is the "Wolf Cut" linking Victorville and the soon-to-be village of "Mattjack." Still building and working this area. Track is down and powered but DC hasn't been brought in for the lights and signals. Thats a Lionel Alco coming in and the tofc was in place to gauge height.

If you have good modem speed make sure you check out their web cameras. Everyone should realize that the layout is S scale.

Did I see Buckeye as the lion tamer in Spankybird's circus? [:D] Just got back from the TCA train sale. Wife bought me two boxes of Lionel trailertrains [make 4 cars] as a surprise for Father's Day. She was also buying me a Lionel NS diesel but I stopped her. Too much for the mid 80's version [it was new in the box] with E unit. Nice of her. Guess I'll run up stairs and photo the addition to the Chief Eagles Short Line Railroad as it runs through the wedding presents. Texas Type, I do see you know your tractors [looks like a John Deere] even though Texicans do not know real bar-be-que is pork. [:D]

Well here it goes. The Chief Eagles Short Line Railroad [formerly the Chief Eagles Very Short Line Railroad which had no loop] with 072 curves as it goes through the wedding presents I stacked and pushed to the middle or the room. It now has storage siding for the 4 U Boats lashed together [with track off and on switch] and storage siding for some rolling stock.


and here you see storage for more engines and an operators station pushed out of stacked clothes and shoes.



Well that is better than before when I had only a single line track and the engines could only go forwar and reverse with no rolling stock or they would run off the end of the track. Youngest told me Wed. night tha tshe will get the room cleaned out soon. Want to bet????

It is about my layout which I started to build past weekend.(Or actually the table). Also been to a train show past weekend, and even I had a good day's shopping. There was Lionel and K-line and I bought a GP and a bounch of freight cars. (also on my site by the way..)

Wow, spankybird, how did you do the 'half-circus tent' - it looks wonderful

Hi Doug,

This is made of pieces of craft paper that is taped together. This will sever as a patteren for a cloth tent. We should start a new thread on this, as I have seen some great tents from other forum members.

Well, it ain't sunday anymore, but I guess no-one bothers about it when I post a few pics from my layout (in building)

This is an overview of the layout, the sidings have to be changed yet, when my new trackwork arrives.

The crane is not working yet. I think there used to be an engine in it, but if anyone knows more about the function of the crane, it could help me a lot..

A freight train coming in from the west side of the station. The chief is waiting for the track to clear for departure.
As you can see I have my layout in the attic, where I have a space of 1.50 x 3.40 meters (approx. 5,5 x 11,5 ft)
