e-Zak, I was told that they had the upgrades in stock for immediate shipment for my Mikado but the price was higher so opted for a better price.[:)]

It was also mentioned on another forum that Lionel may offer Can motor upgrade for older Pullmor engines. It would be interesting, if this is indeed true, if the K-Line cruise will work with it. Or will Lionel introduce us with an Odyssey kit as well. It just gets more interesting all the time.

Let us know how it goes. I am interested to see how the upgrade goes. If you think of it, take some pics to see what's involved.

I've heard that the soldering in the upgrade kit is optional. If you aren't comforatable soldering, you have the option of wire-nutting the connection together.

Everyone who solders wires in any engine has done it once for the first time. If you don't trust yourself with a soldering gun, practice with some cheaper stuff or loose wires first before remolding your plastic cab with that gun..
Anyway, once getting used to it,it's easy. Don't use flux, but use corewire and heat up the to be soldered part first and then add some solder on the heated object. NEVER heat up core solder wire on your gun. The rest is simply a matter of trying.

As far as I know, it's one wire that either needs soldering or a small wire nut. The engine is very easy to change with a X-head screwdriver.

Cruise Control Upgrade
Posted by dougdagrump on Wednesday, May 12, 2004 9:36 PM
I have a K-line Mikado with TMCC and was considering the Cruise Control upgrade that is in their new catalog, currently in stock. The e-mail response I received from their tech dept said it would requie removing the motor and some soldering prior to reinstalling. Easy upgrade [D)] My wife says I am as graceful as a bull in a china shop.[:D]
