TMCC works great and now I want to add the MTH System

My layout is wired completely with TMCC components and it has never missed a beat. [:)] All of the engines work perfect. [:)] The switches switch when the commands are given. [:)] The circuit breakers break when there is a short. [:)] In other words, no problems. (So now I sorta feel like I am going to make one for myself.) [:0]

I want to run MTH engines with all the command componets. I want everything to work. I want to continue to run TMCC engines. I also want to run TMCC engines and MTH engines at the same time on the same track.

[?][?][?][?][?] Where do I start? What do I buy? What do I make? What are the constraints?

Hi Buckeye,

Welcome to DCS, you will love it.

You will need to buy the DCS package which consist of a TIU (track interface unit) and a remote. You should also get an 18 volt 1 amp (radio shack) transformer to power the TIU with.

If you want to control you switches with you DCS remote then you will need a AUI.

To the the TMCC to the TIU you will need a TUI/TMCC connector cable (item # 50-1018) about $20.00.

I would also pick up the DCS tape from OGR. It does a great job of showing how to set it all up.

Jim Duda has done a great job of using both DCS and TMCC.

I'm going DCS first [ sitting upstairs in its box] and then add the TMCC module to it. I think both "worlds" are going to be great. Then we will have conventional to run too. [:D] Go for it. You should have your reward money from the LION you captured. [;)]

Buck - The DCS segment of the OGR forum is fantastic! Those guys take great pride in making sure DCS works - especially for the new guys!...I think they re-define the word "evangelist"! Take a peek over there and you'll see what I mean. I think RAK on this forum will also be glad to help you.

So...roll up your sleeves and just do it. Once you make those PS-2 trains "wake up" to the DCS environment you'll say it was definitely worth it. BUT - it spoils ya real quick! Now, I hesitate to buy any diesel without smoke and ditch lights. So, even though you think you'll still run conventional, don't be surprised that you'll end up operating them once in a great while, instead of frequently. At least that's how it is for me...

As Jim says, I wiil be happy to assist (although I think Mr. Duda has this completely wired now!). Both TMCC and DCS work extremely well together. It is very simple to get them to work together. I cannot imagine limiting one'self to one system or the other (although the PS-2 locomotives under DCS will spoil you very rapidly).
At any rate, enjoy.
