Whistle - Bell Help
Posted by nitroboy on Saturday, May 8, 2004 4:22 PM
I recently purchased my first, of many, Williams FM engine. It has both the bell and whistle functions, but my ZW only has the whistle selector. What do you use to activate the bell?

Thanks!!!

Hi Dave,
Don’t hit me when I tell you this, but what you need is a Bell Button.

It is also called a sound activation button. Lionel #5906-1. One place to purchase this is Warren’s Trains at www.wmtlionelparts.com

Their part number for this is 610-5906-1 at $15.00 each. I would get two, one for each side of the transformer. They just wire in series on the plus side, between the transformer and the track.

It’s the little black boxes next to my ZW.

Hope this helps

Spanky is right. He got me on the "right track". Now I had soldered on a lead from my transformer at the track. Guy at hobby shop told me to just hook it on with a lock on. So with power on, I mashed the button and nothing happened. Then the "light" came on in my head [with a little email from Spanky]. You have to put it on the main + side from the transformer to the track or buss bar. Took my + lead off the transformer, wired it to the + on transformer and connected it to the + side going to track. Works great.
